Pre-School Storytime - Tuesday Mornings in the Library

Our preschool storytime sessions have continued this term, with parents and grandparents enjoying the chance to connect with others as well as have a fun and educational activity for their young children.  We read stories, sing songs and do an activity each week.  Children range in age from babies (the youngest was 5 months when she started attending) through to children who will be starting school next year.  We start just after school drop off until approx. 9:45am on Tuesday mornings.  Please join us.

Next weeks theme – MUSIC and we will be making our own maracas/shakers.

Follow the school facebook page for further updates.

Year 6 Library Assistants

Our Year 6 Library Assistants have been a great asset to our school this year.  They continue to help with book processing, reservations, displays, shelving and locating books.  Earlier this year they assisted with creating, promoting and judging Library competitions.  Over the coming weeks we will start the process to recruit next year’s team of Year 6 Library Assistants from our current Year 5’s.  I hope they will be just as diverse, enthusiastic and positive as this year’s and last year’s assistants.  Year 6 Library Assistants generally volunteer in the library one lunchtime per week and attend occasional team meetings at recess.  They develop teamwork, public speaking and organisational skills, gain confidence and new friends and learn more about how a library functions.  They get the opportunity to provide input into decision making about the library and are also rewarded with a mid-year and end of year thankyou function.

If your student is in year 5 this year, talk to them about possibly applying to join the Year 6 Library Assistants team for 2020.
