Performing Arts

Lights, camera, action!

It's a hive of activity in the St Mary's College Performing Arts Department with Music and Drama students busily rehearsing for upcoming performances.

The following students are to be commended on their first live music performance at the College's Families Welcome Evening on 19 February:

  • Cecilia Hutchinson (Year 10)
  • Eliza Smith (Year 10)
  • Ava Thomsett (Year 9)
  • Estella Edwards (Year 9)

All Drama students are using their creative imaginations to develop their group work and acting skills, ready for peer performances. The Year 11 Drama 3 students are working on their major production, Picnic at Hanging Rock, by Tom Wright. This magnificent state play will be performed on 15–16 May—mark a date in your diaries as it will be a performance you won't want to miss.

Finally, rehearsals have begun for our 2020 musical, Matilda. Forty-four students from Year 7—11 make up this year's cast, which includes the exciting addition of Hobart actor, Jack Lark in the role of Miss Trunchbull. Performance dates are 13–15 August, inclusive.
