Year 10 English

On Wednesday 7th August, the year 10 cohort had the chance to see Shakespeare’s Macbeth come to life on stage at Warrnambool College’s auditorium. Year 10 English students have been studying Macbeth, and while some of them have had the chance to perform certain characters in class, the experience of seeing The Complete Theatre Works Company execute an abridged version allowed the cohort to have an immersive theatre experience.

Netball School Champs

Our Senior and Intermediate netball girls headed to Ballarat on Monday to compete against a number of school teams from South West Victoria. Our Senior girls won half their games and the year 12’s had a lot of fun and made the most of their last chance to represent their school in netball. The Intermediate girls were extremely competitive, only losing 2 of their 7 games narrowly; with one of those losses being to the overall winner, Ballarat High. Well done to all players and coaches for the day! GO BULLANTS!

Lake Condah PhoenIX Excursion

Last week, many of our Phoenix students attended an excursion at the Tyrendarra Indigenous Protected Area and the Lake Condah Mission, which coincided with our Australian History studies. Our hosts, from Budj Bim Tours, gave students and teachers a great understanding of life in the region and Australia prior to and after colonisation. During a walk around the Tyrendarra IPA, we were fortunate enough to participate in a variety of cultural awareness activities that culminated with an artefact presentation. Following this, we visited the Lake Condah Mission; a place that stirred up numerous emotions as we heard stories of the many children and families affected, giving us all an insight into the cruel acts that helped create what we now know as the Stolen Generations. Students were commendable in the way they conducted themselves over the two days.
