Amelie Cox (Year 12), who has been awarded an Elevate Women in STEM scholarship for her undergraduate degree in Agricultural Science by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. What an amazing achievement and wonderful recognition of all your hard work and dedication to science, Amelie! 

 

Meg Brewer and Hayley-Newsham West (Year 7), who have been selected in the U15 Tasmanian State Hockey Team. The team will travel to Darwin in April 2023 for the U15 National Hockey Championships. Meg and Hayley's selection is testament to their hard work, dedication and persistence. Have fun and enjoy the experience!

Ava Baker (Year 8), who has been selected to represent Tasmania in the U16 National Cricket Carnival to take place in Canberra in January 2023. Well done, Ava. This is such an amazing opportunity. Good luck for the nationals!

Ellie Bowerman (Year 6), who recently participated in the State Fire Competitions in Launceston where she (and three other team members) received third place in the Siamese valve event. Ellie is a valued member of her local junior fire brigade and an asset to her community. We wish Ellie all the best in her future endeavours with the brigade.

Lukas Reggett, Gabriel Knaj and Oskar Jankowiak (Year 1), who have been selected to represent Tasmania in the U8 state futsal team in Sydney in January 2023. Well done, boys. Have a fantastic time away.

Clare Wanandy (Year 8) and Caitlin McCullough (Year 1), who were recognised for their creativity and wonderful storytelling in the Catholic Education Tasmania Storytelling Showcase. Clare was awarded a Highly Commended in the Year 7-9 category and Caitlin McCullough received an Encouragement Award in the Prep-Year 2 category. They are both skilled writers and we commend them for representing our College impeccably.

Holly Ward (Year 10), who has been shortlisted for a John Bell scholarships from Bell Shakespeare – an Australian theatre company specialising in the works of William Shakespeare, his contemporaries and other classics. Well done, Holly. You have a bright future ahead of you.

Congratulations to the following students who have been cast in the Old Nick Company Theatre Summer School 2023 production of 'Grease, the musical': Amelia Howell (Year 12), who will play the role of Rizzo; Holly Ward (Year 10), who will play the role of Patsy); and Eliza Topham (Year 11), Davina Cox (Year 10)and Maggie Robinson (Year 9); who all received ensemble roles. Well done to all students on your well-deserved success.

Congratulations to the St Mary's College students who recently performed in Musical Theatre Crew Junior's production of 'The Little Mermaid', including: Charlotte Brimfield,Maddie Fairfield (Year 6) Annabel Hutchinson, Estelle Leary, Sophia Carter, Gabriela McKenna (Year 5) and Lyla Fairfield (Year 3). The College's Year 5 and 6 students were lucky enough to enjoy a special viewing of the show at the Theatre Royal recently and were blown away by the performance. It was fantastic to see our students shine on stage!
