2022 Library Team

This year the Library Team have put in a lot of effort to make the library a welcoming place for the whole student body. Showcasing lots of creative and unique displays, keeping the shelves tidy and writing book reviews to encourage reading. Not only doing all this but most of us also participated in the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge and completed our reading goals with flying colours.

In August the team went on an excursion to the city to the Melbourne Writers Festival to listen to many different authors - learning about writing and the different ways we can harness our ideas and make them into works of art.

Over the year we also had Love your Library, Pawsome Readers and Book Week competitions, together with hotly contested chess competitions.  We also welcomed author Danielle Binks to speak about her novel 'The year the maps changed'. Well done to those who participated and congratulations to the winners – watch out for more exciting things happening in the Library next year.

Thank you to our Library Team for the hard work you have put into the library this year and for the help you have given both me and Mrs Swannell. I hope to see you all in the team next year and wish you all the best over the Christmas holidays. Merry Christmas and happy reading!!

The Jammer by Nova Weetman

Reviewed by Lily G (Year 7)

This novel is about a girl named Fred and her journey after her mother dies. She faces many struggles but somehow finds her way. The friendship of Fred and Sammy is really refreshing. Roller derby is a major theme of this novel and if you like derby, I recommend this book. What I really like about this book is that it’s very relatable to tween girls.

I would like to say that The Jammer, written by Nova Weetman is a very engaging read with lots of plot twists and character developments.

4/5 stars
