ESC Music Program 2023

Changes to the ESC Music Program at Years 7 & 8 in 2023

You may be aware from reading in the media or from conversations in the community of the challenges of recruitment in all schools at the moment. ESC is currently working hard to fill vacant teaching positions to ensure that students in all classes have a teacher from the start of Term 1 in 2023. While this proves an ongoing challenge, we've had to make some difficult decisions about the programs we can offer for 2023.

It is with regret that I announce that due to the challenges in finding a music teacher we've made the difficult decision to not run a music program at Years 7 and 8 in 2023. Our current music teachers Ross Talarico and Lewis O'Leary have worked very hard on the music programs at ESC over the years and have had great success in engaging students through music at ESC.

After a long and distinguished career teaching music at ESC, Mr Talarico will be moving on to a new school in 2023 and we wish him all the best. Mr O'Leary will still teach music in the middle years, however will predominantly focus on teaching instrumental music in 2023. We will be working hard to recruit new music teachers in 2023 to restart the program in 2024, but for now, we will still run music programs at Years 9 and 10, and instrumental music will still be offered at the school.

Year 7 and 8 teachers should note that changes have been made to the booklist.  Due to Music no longer on offer for our Year 7 & 8 students, all items have now been removed from the list.  If you have already ordered these, Campion will be in contact with you soon.

In place of the music program for 2023, our Creative Arts team have been able to offer further Arts subjects at Years 7 & 8. While the details of these subjects are still to be worked out fully, they will have a different approach to the core arts subjects and provide our students with engaging activities that will be of benefit to the students and the school. Stay tuned for more information.
