Year 7 Music Lessons
Music lessons for all Year 7’s students will commence on Tuesday 7th March and will be visible on Compass. We are delighted that so many Year 7 students have put up their hand to learn an instrument this year, it’s a great indicator that exciting times are ahead in Performing Arts. If there are any students who missed out and still wish to learn an instrument, please head over the music department at any stage and talk to one of the friendly music staff.
7E Music
Lessons for 7E students began on Monday 27th. The EXCEL music initiative at the college was developed in line with the many studies consistently showing that music participation enhances many areas of the developing brain. At PRSC we are giving the best opportunity for all our EXCEL students by allowing them to respond to music in a more meaningful way. This week we will run our very first rehearsal as a class, led by Mr. Russell Ward, director of Woodwind. We have no doubt that this class will go on achieve great things as a band, especially when they perform together for the Junior Performing Arts afternoon in Term 2.
Singfest 2023
Singfest was a fabulous day of singing ‘en masse.’ With over 200 students from schools over the peninsula, we joined together to learn and record three contrasting pieces. It was so much fun singing in parts and creating beautiful harmonies.
Lead by guest conductor, AnneMarie Sharry, the music soon took shape, and we were ready to record. We learnt so much singing in such a large group and were soon able to hold independent harmonies.
Overall, it was a fabulous day, and we hope to share with you some of the music we learnt at the Spring Concert in term 3.
