Australian Mathematics Competition congratulations

Congratulations to the students in Grade 3-6 who participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition. We are so proud of everyone for trying their best and having a go. We like to look at this as an opportunity to show of all the things we can do, and students did so well to persevere and attempt all challenging questions.

A special congratulations to Lachie R (3/4TR) who received the ‘Best in School Award’ this year. What an achievement!

“I was really excited to do the AMC and I was even more excited when the results came. I liked doing the AMC because it was fun to be challenged by the tricky maths questions.”

(Lachie R, Grade 3)

All participating students received a certificate this week you should all be very proud of yourselves!

Staff Professional Learning

This year, all staff have been working hard to explore all the mental and written strategies for Addition & Subtraction, Multiplication & Division, and Number Word Sequence.

We have been working with our ‘Maths Gurus’ from Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACS) and have planned how we can include these into lessons and across our Mathematics Yearly Overviews to explicitly reach and assess each skill.

We look forward to sharing some of these strategies with families in 2023.
