Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe we are near the end of another school year. With only 6 more days of school remaining this will be the final newsletter for 2022.

As we conclude the school year we reflect on all that has been achieved. I continue to be amazed at how much we can fit into the school calendar. There have been many wonderful opportunities for the children to engage in purposeful learning and the experiences have been rich and varied. I congratulate all the children on their efforts this year and hope that the Christmas break will offer them rest and refresh them for another productive year in 2023.

I am very grateful to the wonderful staff here at COHR who continue to support and implement the programs on offer. They are certainly a dedicated team and have contributed to another successful year of learning.

Graduation

Last night we acknowledged fifty Year 6 students who will be concluding their primary school education at Christ Our Holy Redeemer. It was a lovely evening celebrated with liturgy, memoirs, acknowledgements and awards.

During our ceremony we also acknowledged 29 families who have their youngest child in Year 6 and will be moving on in 2023. I am very grateful to them for the contribution they have made to our school community in the time they have been with us.

Class Teachers 2023

Our classroom teachers for 2023 will be as follows;

Prep        Mrs Jill Palermo/Mrs Nicole Russell (Tues)

Year 1/2 Mrs Kim Goddard

Year 1/2 Mrs Rachael Goldring

Year 3/4 Miss Maya Howard

Year 3/4 Mrs Karen Gosling

Year 5/6 Mrs Ilona Cetrola

Year 5/6 Mrs Clare Inwood

Year 5/6 Miss Molly Greely

A full staff list will be included in our first newsletter  in 2023.

Transition Day

Next Monday 19th December the children will be informed of their 2023 classroom teacher. They will also meet with their teacher, spending time with their class and sharing lunch together.

Teachers have spent considerable time placing children into classes. Requests to have children placed in another class is not something we can consider at this late stage of the year (as per newsletter Nov 10). We would ask parents for their support in the decisions made by the school regarding class placements.

Fete Outcome

I am pleased to inform our community that our School Fete made a profit of $27 000. This is a terrific outcome and we are very grateful again to all those people who supported this community fundraiser.

Thanks also to parents who completed the Fete Feedback survey. This feedback will be used to assist with planning for our 2024 Fete.

2023 School Fees

2023 School Fees were presented to and ratified by  the School Advisory committee at our  last meeting. A copy of the fees will be sent home with the school reports.

We are encouraging families to set-up direct payment arrangement.

It would be appreciated that any outstanding 2022 fees be paid before the end of the year. Thank you.

Condolences

Our deepest sympathy to Elise Rimington on the recent passing of her mum. Our thoughts and prayers are with Elise and her family at this time.

Thank you

A sincere thanks to our parent community who have supported our school in so many ways this year; listening to children reading, assisting with PMP, supporting staff on excursions, helping on the Parents Association or School Advisory Committee and helping support our school Fete. I thank you all for giving of your time and talent to make a difference to our community.

I would especially like to acknowledge Anna Belmuda and Anna Saraullo. The two Anna's have worked together, leading and organising activities through the Parent's Association. They have committed many hours to our school and again, I am truly thankful to them both.

As we approach the end of another year it is a good time to reflect on our many achievements and to prepare ourselves for the important work to come. As we await the coming birth of Christ, let us remember that 2022 has also given us much to celebrate.

I look forward to 2023 with hope that we can again enjoy the community spirit that we all enjoy here at Christ Our Holy Redeemer.

May the peace of Christ be with your family as together you celebrate His coming.

May a kind word, a reassuring touch and a warm smile be yours every day of your life,

and may you give these gifts

as well as receive them.

May your life be filled with joy and love.

Wishing you and your families a blessed and safe Christmas.
