Parish School Education Board

Update

On behalf of the School Education Board I would like to take this opportunity to provide the school community with an update on the work of the Board.

The School Education Board acts as an advisory committee to the Principal and Parish Priest regarding matters relating to the school. It is an opportunity for members to provide insight, experience and support whilst advocating the ethos of the school and supporting the religious programs.

Prior to Stage Three Restrictions being enforced, we were fortunate to hold our AGM. We farewelled and thanked outgoing Chair Andrew Puls for his years of commitment and dedication to the Board and welcomed a new Chair, Deputy Chair and Secretary as well as some new members.

Our first meeting for the year was held via Google Meet which we are sure parents are very familiar with! It was an excellent opportunity to connect and set the agenda for the year ahead. At each meeting we follow an agenda which outlines the following discussion points, these include:

- business arising from previous meetings

- priority items

- strategic plans

- principal's report

- child safety update

- school finances

- building/maintenance

- communications

- marketing

- education (where staff have the opportunity to present any new developments in

their teaching).

We were able to finalise an induction process for board members, update the Constitution and discuss an information pack for new Board Members.

We were pleased to hear that home learning has been going really well and the School Board expressed their gratitude to the staff for their ongoing commitment and support of our children during a very challenging time. It was acknowledged that the staff have excelled in their ability to adjust to the changes in circumstances and we are extremely grateful.

Our renovation plans are still underway and Verona is working closely on the development and will continue to keep the school community informed. Verona also provided the Board with an update on the school’s strategic plan which covers opportunities for improvement based on data provided to the school. We were pleased to hear enrolment numbers are on track for 2021 and our Child Safety Policy has identified that our current online learning platform is supporting the needs of students especially in respect to online safety.

The School Board will continue to update the school community after each meeting, the next meeting is scheduled for 23 June 2020. If you have any issues you would like to raise with any of the Board Members feel free to contact them or direct any concerns to Verona. We welcome the opportunity to be connected with the school community.
