2020 was definitely a difficult year as we all spent so much time at home, online. This is why we are really going to push/encourage involvement in all aspects of BSC schooling this year. One of the unique things about our school is the amount, and variety, of opportunities we have available to us. House events like Chorales, Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country and various committees such as the SSA, Environment, the Chess Club in the library, are all such a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills and show our school pride. By taking every opportunity offered to us we make new memories and get the absolute most out of our BSC journey, so give everything a go!

Other possibilities for further school engagement present themselves in the countless leadership positions. From Year 7 and Year 8 class captains to SRC representatives, to Junior school Captains, House and Cultural leadership positions all the way to College Captains in year 12. We encourage you all to get involved, as it not only gives you a chance to make a difference to our school community, but it is also about demonstrating our school pride, and our school values of, teamwork, curiosity and integrity.

I am Bethany Pham, I am so honoured to be the International College Captain for 2021, to represent a dynamic and diverse community of international students at BSC. This year, we would like to build upon the work of 2020 captains and due to the current state of the world, we aim focus on the cultural connectedness between students, staffs and the community. 2020 was a tough year for everybody and therefore in 2021, we want to build up a stronger connection between all members of our Brighton Secondary College community. We encourage you to sit next to someone different in class, and to find out more about them, let’s build a strong student community where we all work together to get the best ourselves and each other at BSC.
