Hockey News

Congratulations to Molly Klix, year 11, who was selected to participate in the Victorian U/18 Hockey Academy as a goal keeper. Molly attended the academy in January after a draft camp and then had 7 sessions of intensive training. Whilst not selected for the State team, Molly found the experience very rewarding and will use her new skills in school and local competitions.

Molly and Charli Jones, year 11, are also training with the South West Academy, made up of selected players from Ballarat, Ararat, Hamilton, Portland, Warrnambool, and other areas in the region. The girls train for 5 hour sessions to improve their skills and game play.

Next term, students in years 7-9 have the chance to play hockey in the BAS after school competition. There will be a boys and girls team. No experience is necessary.  Any student wanting to play should sign up when the sheets go up near the sports office in a few weeks’ time, or give their name to Mrs Kearle, staffroom 3.5 in the North Wing. Hockey sticks and shin guards are provided (covid safe), if needed.  Students do need their own mouthguard.
