International Women's Day

On Friday 5th March, a group of Tarneit Senior College female student leaders went to the International Women’s Day morning tea, hosted by our local MP Sarah Connolly.
We heard speeches from politicians Joanne Ryan and the Victorian Minister for Women, Gabrielle Williams. They celebrated and honoured the amazing achievements of women and gender diverse people locally and nationally.
However, they each also acknowledged some of the barriers we sadly continue to face - including being disproportionately affected by the pandemic, continuing to carry most of the caring work in families and communities, and being the victims of sexual violence, even in the halls of our parliament.
The root of these problems is the same: gender inequality.
This International Womens Day, TSC student leaders are choosing to challenge this inequality.
Challenging inequality and biases is something that is everyone’s responsibility.
What will you choose to challenge?
