Term 1 has seen many students represent the College at various interschool competitions across the Wyndham Division.

The Senior Boys Cricket team started off our 2021 sports campaign winning their divisional matches in Week 5!

The boys team lead by Coach Glenn, won both round 1 matches convincingly before advancing to the Divisional final against Suzanne Cory High School on March 12. Unfortunately, the boys lost this game in the final over of the match. Congratulations to all students involved in this team, and a big thank you to Glenn for coaching with such passion and enthusiasm.

The College also entered teams in the Intermediate Tennis tournament and the Senior Boys and Girls Volleyball competitions.

A big thank you to Anthony and Jess for coaching both of these teams. Although we weren’t able to bring home the pennant on either of these occasions, the students displayed fantastic sportsmanship on the days and represented the College with pride.

Thank you to all coaches for including summaries of the sporting competitions (including photos from the day), please see below for further details!

Senior Cricket

Our Senior Boys Cricket Team performed very well last week in the interschool pool division winning games against Werribee SC and Hoppers SC by big margins.  There were many outstanding contributions.  Joy made a swashbuckling 52 in the first game (against Werribee) which set up victory and a big chance of progressing through to the next round.   In the second game, contributions were very even and everyone in the team ensured we were victorious.  An outstanding catch on the boundary by Harmon capped off what was to be a brilliant day.  The contributions of Dheeman (50) and Obaid (scoring 29 in both matches) along with the accurate bowling of Wasif also rate high mentions.

Senior Volleyball

On Friday the 15th of March 17 year 11 and 12 students went out to compete in an inter school volleyball competition. Students were very dedicated from the start, wanting to run extra training sessions before Friday and then again early Friday morning. Throughout the day both boys and girls teams took on feedback from the umpires and showed amazing sportsmanship. Both boys and girls teams one their first three games, they showed some amazing rallies with the other teams and were able to gain composure when the pressure was high. The final games the teams were really completive and both boys and girls missed the win by a few points. All students reflected on their performances and spoke about how they could have done better next time. All students should be congratulated on their teamwork and effort for the day. Well done Senior volleyball students.

Intermediate Tennis:

It was a cold and windy day at Saltwater Reserve but the students' enthusiasm and constant running kept them warm. The tennis experience amongst the team was mixed, but what many lacked in technical ability they made up for with effort and good sportsmanship. We were unlucky on the day but some of the highlights included Aahna who was undefeated in her singles matches and Haroun and Jacob's nail biting doubles match against Tarneit P-9. It was a great day and the students behaviour was exemplary.
