Dunhelen Information Evening
Thank you to the parents who attended the Dunhelen Information evening, either onsite or via Zoom. I hope it was a good evening for you and you were able to meet your child’s homeroom teacher. It was lovely to meet many new parents. At the Year 7 parents meeting, I spoke about ‘Embracing the Adventure’. The adventure I refer to is High School. It is an adventure full of many opportunities and I encourage all year levels to seek those opportunities and continue to grow in many areas. Extra-curricular activities should be sought in order to broaden a student’s experience at school. Last week I spoke to students about this being their year. My message was, “This is your year to…..” I am hoping that students will take up the opportunities and step outside their comfort zone.
Home Learning
This week has seen us thrown into Home Learning once again. The students have coped well and should be congratulated on their adaptability. Due to lockdown, we have had to postpone the Year 7 camp and the Leader training and Induction ceremony. Once new dates are set, we will inform parents.
Semester 1 Class Captains 2021
The Semester 1 Class Captains will soon be selected. I will be announcing these in the next newsletter. Class Captains work alongside the student leadership team and are representatives of their homeroom and peers. I encourage Class Captains to come up with some amazing ideas for their school.
Year 9 Service Learning Project
Last week the Year 9 students were introduced to Service Learning. Students will be allocated time every term to work on a challenge-based learning group project. This is part of the Year 9 curriculum and students will be working towards further developing 21st Century skills. I do hope your child has spoken to you about the project. Please look through some of the information that was presented to the students. Students are now in the process of forming their groups and setting their task.
