Learning to Lead

Last term, the Year 9 Learning to Lead class learnt about how to become the best leader we could be. We then had to create a project to lead primary school kids and get them learning about Steamworks.

The class was split up into three groups of four. One group ran the sphero robots, teaching the Grade 4-6¹s to program a sphero to do a U-shaped course so they could learn basic block programming; such as rolling and turning.

The Virtual Reality Group used Tilt Brush, to get the kids drawing pictures in 3D, instead of the normal 2D pictures they draw. The rest of the primary school students would then have to guess the image that was being drawn. This got the students thinking about drawing in 3D instead of 2D.

In the Lego Building Group, the challenge for the primary school students was to work in pairs to build the tallest tower, with the least number of lego blocks.

Their other challenge was to make a creative object out of strawberries.

Some of the creations built, were a cage to capture the moon and a hat and wings for a hippo.

Everyone really enjoyed themselves!
