TERM 4
Year 11 Final Assembly
Last Thursday, November 23rd, we were joined by many parents, guardians and friends to celebrate the achievements of our 2017 Year 11 students.
Congratulations to all of our award winners and special congratulations to our Year 11 Students of the Year; Ashleigh Pope and Jemarod Brown.
Our 2018 School Captains were also announced; Ashleigh Pope and James Laven. We look forward to Ashleigh and James leading the student leadership team next year to assist us in making Lilydale High School the best it can be.
The Kathleen McColl Biology award winner was Chasca Russell. This award is given in memory of Kathleen, a much loved teacher who sadly passed away in 2016. The award is presented to the top Year 11 Biology student every year; it includes a trophy and very generous monetary prize that is donated by Kath’s husband and family. Thank you to Kathleen’s family members who were in attendance to present the award.
I wish our Year 11 students a safe and happy summer break and look forward to an exceptional year for everyone in 2018.
Year 9 Tasmania Trip
The Year 9 students and teachers all returned from Tasmania having had a wonderful adventure touring around the Apple Isle. From all accounts the students enjoyed every aspect of the camp including the trip over (or back depending on the group) on the Spirit of Tasmania.
I received a card from a lady who was travelling around Australia who took great time and effort to compliment us on the interactions that she observed between our students at one of the accommodation places. She was amazed to see that students were without technology and conversing in such a positive and friendly manner, something she had not always seen on her trip around the country.
My thanks to Mr Toma and the coordinators who organised the camp, and to our students who obviously, were great role models for LHS.
Valedictory Dinner
Next Tuesday, the annual Valedictory Dinner will be held at The Peninsula, in the Docklands. At present we have well over 1000 people attending.
The Valedictory evening is a night where the class of 2017 will come together for the final time to celebrate not only their year 12 achievements, but their 13 years of schooling.
We look forward to seeing everyone at The Peninsula, Shed 14 Central Pier, 161 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands at 7pm.
