Using Language to Persuade Issues - SACs
Parents might have noticed their Year 12 students’ interest in news and current affairs lately. This is because students studying mainstream English have just completed two SACs based around the outcome Using Language to Persuade.
The first was an oral presentation of 6-8 minutes, including a PowerPoint, on a current issue of their choice. Students had to present a sustained argument and demonstrate the use of persuasive language techniques which would help convince the audience of their point of view.
The second SAC was a written task where students had to analyse how three writers of different media texts used persuasive language techniques to convince their audiences. These articles were based around a current issue in the media. Students completed the written SAC last week.
