From the Principal Team

Term 1 is nearing an end and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and wider school community for their support throughout the term. A busy term with classroom learning activities our priority and an impressive range of co-curricular events happening in the last fortnight, as you can see reading this newsletter, highlighting the range of opportunities offered to our students by dedicated and caring staff.
Last week, I conducted a special luncheon for students achieving a very high result (4.5 and above) in their recent SPA reports. The lunch with the Principal is an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the excellent work of our students based on levels of Accomplishment, Productive use of class time, Effort & Attitude, Managing Personal Time and Attendance. The challenge for each individual is to maintain these standards next term and hopefully we can see more students raising the bar and improving in each of these areas to join this list in the next reporting cycle in term 2. Congratulations to the following students:

Year 10 Beacon Pledge Event
Last week students, teachers, parents and business partners were present to support Year 10 students to make a commitment to their future. Student ambassadors Baden Sloan,Tyler Bell, Xhovana Mulla, Vivienne McPherson, Ella Bollard and Zahra AlMoosawi
worked with Beacon Co-ordinator Mary-Ann Linehan to organise the schools Pledge day.
The Beacon program is aimed at keeping students at school and providing learning opportunities to assist students in making informed decisions regarding future education, training or employment. The guest speakers for this event were engaging and informative and it was wonderful to see so many parent and community members in attendance. Congratulations to Mary-Ann Linehan on her organisation of this terrific event.
Cross Country
On Monday our annual House Cross Country competition was conducted with the run taking students along the walking / bike track behind Aquamoves to Princess Park here in Shepparton. The students completed the run in mostly fine conditions with a little shower of rain cooling the participants down. Congratulations to all the students who ran the course, and particularly those who finished in the top ten to qualify for the district competition to be held later next month.
The Age group champions and the team awards will be presented at an assembly early next term. Thanks to Mr Sullivan for organising the event and the staff for their assistance in ensuring the day ran smoothly.
Parent /Teacher Interviews and Reporting – Term 1
SPA reports were recently posted home. We encourage students and parents to study the results in each category for each subject and consider how well they have gone and how they might be able to improve as the semester progresses. The SPA report encourages this discussion not just between parents and students but also between students and their teachers. The SPA reports, in addition to the Learning Goals developed and discussed at the First Day Student Conferences earlier in the year will form an excellent talking point for our Parent/Teacher interviews at the end of this term.
Parent Teacher Interviews will be held this term on: Thursday 26th March – 4.00pm to 7.00pm and Friday 27th March – 10.00am to 1.00pm. Interviews will be conducted in the Personal Learning Centre, Senior Study Centre and the New Science building. Teacher Advisors, Support staff, Classroom Teachers and Year Level Team Leaders would love to see as many parents and students in attendance as possible. Interview times will be booked using an online booking system similar to the one used at the beginning of the year for the first day student conferences. Parents can still see teachers without bookings however families with pre-booked interviews will have priority. Hope to see you at the interviews.
