Congratulations to both Unit 1 and Unit 3 VCE Drama students who presented their Ensemble performances last week.  The first formal performances in the new PAC Theatre!

The students put in many hours outside of class time to develop their performances and should be very proud of their hard work.

Thank you to our wonderful audiences; staff, students and parents who continue to support the Performing Arts at Lilydale High School, as well as Emily Svarnias and Ashleigh Basham, our Performing Arts Captains, who hosted both the evening and lunchtime performances.

A big shout out and thank you also to Alex and Zoe in Year 11 for helping with the supper.

Music Workshops & Mid Year Concert

The Instrumental Music Department have been busy over the last two weeks preparing for the Mid Year Concert, that was held on  Tuesday 14 June.

Each ensemble had workshops (Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 June) with their teacher, fine tuning their songs. The students enjoyed having the quality time to rehearse for a longer period of time without disruptions to the flow of the music.

The students also attended a session in the theatre with guest speaker Andrew Broadbent.  Andrew is a musician, teacher, dancer, actor and music theatre performer.

He spoke to them about his career and how he started as a trombone player in the school band, on stage in school productions and then eventually onto the stage in shows such as “Once” and “The Jersey Boys”.

The students loved hearing his stories and were hopefully inspired to be passionate about what they love doing.

On the evening of Tuesday June 14, the Instrumental Music students had their chance to perform in their large ensembles. This was our first concert in the new PAC Theatre. What a wonderful space to have and perform in.

We had some of Clancye Milne’s voice and piano students perform in the foyer as the audience arrived. Those students were Emily Reynolds and Paris James on piano, Jasmena Kavanagh, Annalise Carden, Brianna Birthisel–Mulready, Tayla Shearer and Kylie Wilkinson on voice. They did a wonderful job performing and their songs were well received by the audience.

All of the Instrumental Music staff  had been rehearsing for most of the semester on their ensembles. Below is a list of the ensembles and teachers who performed on the night.
