YEAR 8
Significant Person Project
YEAR 8
Significant Person Project
On Wednesday and Thursday, the Year 8 Significant Person Project concluded with a presentation afternoon at which over 100 parents and significant people were in attendance.
There were puppet shows, speakers and an opportunity for everyone to look around the gallery of wonderful work that was created over the past few months.
All students had selected a person in their lives who has had a significant influence on them, wrote about them and then created an artistic representation of them in their ceramics and art classes.
The students were thoroughly engaged in the process and have provided positive feedback on the whole experience and feedback on the way in which this new initiative can be improved for the future.
A protective factor in building resilience in our students is that they are connected to positive people and role models throughout their teenage years. Identifying these people has been part of the process for all of our students.
A very big thank you to the Year 8 students who enthusiastically embraced this cross curricular initiative and to the Year 8 Art, Drama and English teachers for their collaborative work.
Special thanks to Sarah Hardy and Melissa McMillan who were the driving force behind the project.
To our students who read their letters and biographies on the day, congratulations and thank you for your contributions.
And finally to those guests who came on either day, thank you for making this a great experience for our students.
