Soiree
On Tuesday 20th March, we held our first soiree for the year. These are held in the second last week of term 1, 2 and 3 and the last week of November, and are an opportunity for music students to demonstrate the solos or small ensemble pieces they have been working on. It was great to see the family members who came along to support their students and we encourage people to come along to one of the soirees later in the year.
Vocal Masterclass
Vocal masterclass was held on Friday featuring performances by many of the singing students from years 7 - 11. This terms theme was 'songs released in last five years.' A fantastic effort by all students.
Year 7 Welcome Dinner
It was great to see so many people at the welcome night on the 14th March. Our percussion ensemble, Music Captain, Phoebe Lavis, and year 11 student, Adam Probst, all performed for the crowd, demonstrating what they have learnt as a member of the band program. All year 7 students have received a notice about joining the band, so now is the best time to start. Training Band rehearsals will commence on Thursday 19th April after school in the Music Centre.
Be Part of the Band
Learning a musical instrument has been proven to have many benefits to a student’s overall education, such as improved marks across other subject areas and a higher IQ. So having said that, now is the time to Be Part of the Band!
Music lessons and band have restarted for the year and anyone, from any year level, who is interested can join. It’s never too late to start. We currently have instruments available on all brass, woodwind, percussion and string instruments, as well as voice.
