Riding the Sleep Wave!

SLEEP AND YOUNG PEOPLE

We sleep so we can be active, focused and feel good during the day.  Almost everyone has had a bad night's sleep and knows what it feels like.

We know that young people are more likely to experience problems with their sleep because of all the changes occurring in adolescence. Everyone is different, and our need for sleep changes over time. What's important is finding a balance that allows us to get the sleep we need as well as achieve our goals and have fun during the day.

SO… what is the right balance for you? How can you learn to take charge of your sleep and feel in control?  Read on…

Asthma & the Flu Vaccination

Annual vaccination is the single most effective way to protect against influenza infection. We strongly advise that all people with asthma and their families are vaccinated for maximum protection against influenza. This will protect them and prevent the spread of the virus to those most at risk.

The National Immunisation Program provides free vaccination to at risk groups – talk to your pharmacist or GP to see if you are eligible.

Vaccination in mid-April is recommended to offer maximum protection throughout the flu season.

The flu vaccine is recommended from 6 months of age, however any parents who have concerns should talk to their doctor. For more information and support with asthma visit www.asthmaaustralia.org.au/asthma-and-flu or call the 1800 ASTHMA Helpline (1800 278 462).
