From the Principal Team

Term 1 is nearing an end and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and wider school community for their support throughout the term. A busy term with classroom learning activities our priority and an impressive range of co-curricular events happening in the last fortnight, as you can see reading this newsletter, highlighting the range of opportunities offered to our students by dedicated and caring staff.

YEAR 10 BEACON PLEDGE

This week students, teachers, parents and business partners were present to support Year 10 students to make a commitment to their future. Student ambassadors Cheyanne Cooper, Zac Groombridge, Shakira Liddy, and Abby Knight worked with Beacon Co-ordinator Mary-Ann Linehan to organise the schools Pledge day.

The Beacon program is aimed at keeping students at school and providing learning opportunities to assist students in making informed decisions regarding future education, training or employment. The guest speakers for this event were engaging and informative and it was wonderful to see so many parent and community members in attendance. Congratulations to Mary-Ann on her organisation of this terrific event.

BULLYING. NO WAY!

Last week on Friday 16th March it was Bullying. No Way! National day of Action against bullying and violence. As part of our Wellbeing program, we are running a poster competition in our TA time.

Students are to design and create a poster to spread the message that bullying and violence have no place in Australia and to illustrate what a world free from bullying would look like to them. Entries closed this Friday 23rd March and winners will be announced early next term. Winning entries will be made into posters to display around the school.

HARMONY DAY

Today we celebrated Harmony Day with a fantastic concert with a large number of students performing in front of our school community. Harmony Day is dedicated to celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity and is held on March 21st each year.

The Shepparton High School Harmony Day concert was a fantastic illustration demonstrating the need for peace in our community and the importance of inclusion to promote a tolerant and culturally diverse society.

Thank you to all the students who participated either singing or performing cultural dances.

The EAL staff team along with a number of o

other staff should be very proud of the success of this event and are to be congratulated in bringing the students together to send such a powerful message to all who were fortunate to be sitting in the audience.
