Year 6 Camp

A Student Perspective

Year 6 camp was the best!

We left on the 11th of May, and came back on the 13th of May.

Day 1:

We went to the Shrine of Remembrance, and to the museum underneath. There was a small quiz about information from the Shrine. Then we went to our amazing accommodation, and after that we headed to the Old Melbourne Gaol.

The Old Melbourne Gaol was really interesting and fun to learn about. We got to see the cells that all the prisoners stayed in, and where Ned Kelly got executed. There were also death masks of all the prisoners and there were weapons that the prisoners used to commit crimes.

After dinner, we walked along Southbank and watched the fire show. To end the first day, we watched a movie.

Day 2:

We had an early start to get to ACMI. There was a lot of illusions, and games. It was all about visual arts, and making films, animations and moving images. It was really cool to see how things were brought to life. Later in the day, we went to the MCG!

Each group had their own tour guides, showing us all around, and looking at places we wouldn’t normally see. We went to the sports museum in the MCG. We were allowed to explore by ourselves, and look at all the different things in the museum. There were fun games. After the MCG we went back to CYC (where we were staying), and got to watch a movie after dinner.

Day 3:

We packed our bags in the morning to get ready to go. But before we got back to school, we went to the Queen Victoria Market. We were allowed to buy anything we wanted, with our own money (we were advised to bring $50 or under). After the market, we were on our way back to school.

We had an amazing time, but were exhausted from all the fun we had!
