ANZAC 2022

After 2 years of not being able to commemorate ANZAC day as we normally would Friday 25th of March was certainly a memorable day. Many of our students turned out on the day to show their respect by marching to the cenotaph and remaining for the traditional service. We were addressed by many members of the community.

Vaughn Quelnan represented Molong Central School as he delivered a speech about Australia’s participation in the Korean War. Vaughan’s speech which was put together with the support of Mr Keen was well received by the community as many people commented on the significance of the speech as it drew comparisons to the current events occurring in Ukraine.

Positive Start to Term 2

We have enjoyed a wonderful start to Term 2 and there is a sense of positivity in our school community with attendance rates back to where they were prior to the pandemic. Our students have settled nicely into the routine of learning, which has been commented on by many teachers and is noticeable as you visit classes and talk with students. As NAPLAN approaches, we remain committed to improving students’ numeracy and literacy skills and are extremely fortunate to have dedicated teachers working at bringing our students back to where their levels of learning should be. This is occurring both in regular classes as well as through the COVID Intensive Learning Support small group tuition.

Changes to Close Contact Isolation from Term 2 - The Department of Education

From the beginning of Term 2, students and staff who are identified as close contacts will be able to attend school at the principal’s discretion with the following risk mitigations in place:

  • Parents/carers and staff must notify the school if they or their child is a close contact and intends to attend school or work
  • Students and staff should conduct a daily rapid antigen test (RAT) and receive a negative result each morning before attending school for 5 subsequent school days
  • Staff and high school students identified as close contacts must wear a mask in all indoor settings when at school
  • Primary school students identified as close contacts are recommended to wear a mask in all indoor settings when at school
  • 7 days of isolation is still required if your child tests positive to covid and the school also needs to be informed.
