Snapshot of Learning by Grade 2 and Mothers Day

Many Australians celebrate Mother’s Day by showing their appreciation for the achievements and efforts of mothers and mother figures. It is annually observed in Australia on the second Sunday of May. Leading up to the Mothers Day celebrations, the air was abuzz with excitement from the Grade 2 classrooms! The Grade 2 students have been engaged in a variety of Mothers Day activities. Anticipation has been building while creating cards, putting thoughts about their mum into words, reading stories about mums and sharing these with others.

There has been great excitement this week as the Grade 2 students were finally able to invite the special people in their lives, our mums, to join us for a Mother’s Day Prayer service this week. During the service there will be a special tribute to acknowledge all the strong women in our lives who do so much for us and there were some beautiful photos of the Grade 2 students and St Simon’s staff with their mum.

We thank and wish all of our mums, grandmothers and mother figures a very happy and peaceful Mother's Day.
