Special Night for Year 7 Mothers & Children

Mother and Child Evening - This Thursday

The annual ‘Mother Child’ evening is scheduled on Thursday 5th May 2022 in the Gym from 6pm for a 6.15pm start.  Please arrive early for a light supper.

This event is for Year 7 students and their mother or adult female mentor. If you already know what this is about  please register here

We would love you and your child to take part in what promises to be a special evening. The purpose of the night is to stop and acknowledge the journey both you and your child have made to arrive at this moment in their life.

With the assistance of the Trinity College community, you will be led through an engaging evening which involves both discussion groups and a significant ‘one-on-one’ time with your child.

We ask you to bring a treasured item or symbol that represents something about your relationship with your child. Please keep this item a secret from your child until the special time occurs on the evening. Your child will be asked to bring something of significance to share as well (they will be notified of this at school). It is important that you both have something to share.

The item that you choose could be one of the following…

·         A first outfit, a photo, a hospital bracelet.

·         When your child was born, you may have received a gift or card from someone special that you have kept.

·         An old report where a teacher made a comment about your child that made you proud.

·         A piece of work that you have kept … an essay, a poem, an artwork that your child did etc.

·         A photo of your child with a special person to you… maybe of someone who isn’t around anymore.

·         In the ensuing days, you may like to create a memento by bringing a collection of memories that you want to share with your child.

·         Perhaps you might want to write your child a letter that shares your positive reflections on how you have seen them grow up.

Please bring the item wrapped up and don’t unpack it until you get to the dedicated time with your child.

If a student’s mother is not available, a grandmother, aunt or other female mentor is welcome.
