T3 Cafe News

T3 Cafe Opens its Doors to Growth and Opportunities

Since the beginning of the term, a selected group of keen and bright students have been working on a school Cafe that is entirely developed and run by students. The T3 Cafe project is open to all students from Years 10 and above, and focuses on achieving 3 key goals:

Goal 1 - To enhance student wellbeing through the promotion of empowerment and development of self esteem.

The development of this new space creates an environment where students can have another place to feel belonged. As students are running the show, they are encouraged to work as a team to develop and implement new ideas. Students also build self-confidence in applying new skills into their own workplace, or share skills they have learnt from their workplace back with the team at the T3 Cafe.

Goal 2 - Training students to be work-ready by gaining employable skills.

Cafe Team members undergo an induction where they learn all about work health and safety requirements. In addition to this, they also undergo many training sessions where they are taught how to operate an espresso machine; how to use a coffee grinder; how to make all the types of coffees; customer service skills including how to take orders and handle transactions. This practical experience will prepare and equip students with employable skills in the hospitality industry, whether they're aiming for a Food and Beverage Attendant or a Restaurant Manager.

Goal 3 - Creating an environment that brings the whole school community together.

The T3 Cafe is open to all students and staff, as well as the wider school community during special occasions. It is the perfect platform for students to showcase their hospitality skills whilst bringing the community closer together. Senior VET Hospitality students will also be utilising the Cafe space to undergo their practical competency-based assessments such as food and beverage service periods.

Cafe Team Leaders

In order to plan and operate the Cafe, the team requires a group of wise and proactive leaders. Candidates who have expressed interest in applying underwent a real world-like interview and selection process. It is my great pleasure to announce that our first cohort of Cafe Team Leaders are:

- Ambros Del Rosario (Year 12)- Zipporah Puleheloto Nosa (Year 11)- Tufale Ikenasio (Year 11)- Amber Hingston (Year 10)

Our Cafe Team Leaders will be in charge of all-things Cafe, such as the planning and implementation of a new menu, constructing rostering systems, designing standard recipes and managing a shift by leading the team of 40 students. I look forward to all the great things our Cafe Team Leaders will accomplish this year!

T3 Cafe Logo

A huge shout out and thank you to Mrs. Dickie who has helped out with the implementation of this project, as well as designing a cool and attractive logo for the Cafe!

T3 Cafe Launch

On the 22nd March, the T3 Cafe was officially launched by our Cafe Team. The opening morning turned out to be a huge hit with a massive queue of students and staff.

T3 Cafe Frequently Asked Questions:

Recruitment of Cafe Team

To students (Years 10 and above) - If you are interested in applying for a Cafe Team role, there will be various opportunities available throughout the year where positions will be advertised for you to apply for. Keep an eye out for these!
