Cultural Liaison News

Harmony Day

Friday, 1st of April was our MCC Harmony day, which is a harmonious day, where we collaboratively celebrate cultural diversity, where everyone belongs. This year we did not have a food stall to taste test, but we surely had a 'Polynesian Performance' where the students and myself danced our hearts gracefully and endlessly, by foretelling our stories through our performance. The group included most of the pacific nations such as; Australia, Fijian, Cook Island, Kiribas, Niuean, Samoan, Tongan,  Rarotongan, and New Zealand which was represented by our nation flags, kindly assisted by our local council member, Kim Burges. The students involved were mixed from years 10 to 12 and the year 12's performed for the last time as they wore their traditional outfits to farwell their last dance for the year. These students who participated were; Year 12; Lucas Filipo, PJ Lale, Jimmy Uoifalelahi, Raymond Halapiapi, Zuko Singqandhu, Christian Mamafainoa, Karoua Kaibwa, Winnie Ikenaasio, and Mere Tiritabua. Year 11; Tufale Ikenasio, and Beiata Kooba. Year 10; Aotearoa Filipo, Rebcecca Ikenasio, Jannet Tapumania, Odena Tavita, and Seini Halapiapi.

Easter Egg Hunt

Wednesday, 30th of March, the students who attend our MCC Study Club on Tuesday afternoons, were invited to participate in a Easter Hunt, to commend them on their commitment to their studies. Some of the year 12 student's got involved as to hiding the chocolate eggs and students from all year groups had fun looking for the eggs, as this activity had the students engaged and having fun.
