Beachside Swimming wrap up

A team of 30 swimmers boarded the bus on Thursday 17 March ready to represent MGSC with pride in the pool ... and that they did!

Some tremendous results from our swimmers including:

  • Our Junior and Intermediate girls winning overall
  • Matilda Waugh being awarded the 15 year old age group champion
  • Mia Shroen awarded the 18 - 20 year age group champion
  • Three out of the four 4 x50m freestyle relay teams finishing first

The students who have qualified for Southern Metropolitan Regionals will be notified shortly where they will be competing on Monday 28 March at MSAC.

Thank you to the staff that accompanied the team -  Mr Michael Warden and Ms Annie McGuire and for Ms Lisa Kosack ensuring that the team was well organised and prepared prior to their departure.

Round Robin wrap up

Congratulations to all students who competed in the Intermediate, year 8 or 7 Round Robin days. Despite situations beyond our control at times, the students together with the staff coaches took it in their stride and rose up to the challenge. Teams that won the overall day will now compete at the regional level later on in the year so make sure to keep your eyes out in your emails regarding training sessions for this.

A huge thank you must go to our staff coaches – these teams cannot compete without a staff member in charge. Not only have the staff coaches accompanied the students on the day but have also given up numerous lunchtimes in the lead up to ensure the team was set for competition day!

Athletics Carnival

Some information has been shared with our students and families on Compass (via a newsfeed) outlining the process for the day. Students will need to make their own way to Dolamore Oval in Mentone and will be dismissed at the conclusion of the day. Roll call will start at 8.45am sharp in the morning and then again at approx. 2.45pm before students are dismissed at 2.55pm. A map of the year level specific locations for roll call is below for your convenience:

Suggested transport arrangements have been included in the communication for students who may be travelling by public transport. Parents who wish to drop off their child at the oval must ensure they are following the road rules and speed limits in order to keep our school community safe. Parents who have a Working with Children (WWC) check are allowed to attend but must sign in at the First Aid station (out the front of the pavilion), and receive a visitor lanyard. Parents must sign out and return the lanyard before departing. NO PETS ALLOWED.

Please read the information carefully and contact me via email (08830780@mgsc.vic.edu.au) should you have any questions or concerns.
