STEAM

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (14/3) around the world. MGSC also took part in the celebration this year, and we held a celebration on the 15 March instead of March 14 (3.14) due to Labour day. The STEAM team held the event in the STEAM centre and there were many activities for everyone to take part in. Many people of all year levels had memorised over 30 Pi numbers and people who could read the Pi numbers from the board very fast, and each participant received more than one lollie as a reward.

Our champions for the competitions were:

Being able to revise 40 pi digits from memory: Ruby R (7A)

Reading 58 digits of pi in 15 seconds: Alice Whiteside (8A)

Thanks to everyone who came along and participated in this fun event!

A late entry for the competition. A year 12 team each memorised a sequence of number to divide and conquer the challenge. There is strength in numbers and chocolate is a great motivator.
