Prep

The Prep students have well and truly settled into school life now, and have been busy with all their wonderful learning.

It has been so wonderful to see so many Prep students and families down at Active April each morning. Keep up the hard work!

Your child may have come home recently with a delicious chocolate treat that they made during their first ever session in the kitchen. I think it’s safe to say that the Preps are looking forward to returning to the kitchen in Term 2. I wonder what they will cook next!

Here’s a small snippet of what we have been learning about over the last few weeks….

English:

The Preps have now learned 7 words of the week through our SMART Spelling program, plus many blue words, letters and sounds. They should be very proud of themselves.

As you know, we had a silly socks day to help students learn and remember the letter Ss and the sound it makes. Everyone looked fantastic in their silly socks!

In writing lessons, we have been focusing particularly on recount writing where the Prep students have had opportunities to write about personal events that have happened to them.

Maths:

In maths, the Preps have been introduced to many different topics, including 2D and 3D shapes, time (where they learned about the days of the week and what days we do particular things), and data and graphing.

The students have explored these concepts through lots of hands on, open ended experiences and activities.
