After two long years of remote learning, while staying locked inside our houses, this year has brought with it a much-needed respite. What did not change though, are the excellent results that were achieved by the Year 12 students. 2021 marked yet another successful year for the cohort. The dedication and hard work of not only our students but the faculty have been praiseworthy, to say the least.

The year 2022 has brought with it a lot of changes to our faculty. Mr Michael MacNeill has decided to part ways with the organisation after an outstanding career with us spanning more than a decade. We wish him all the best in his new role. This shift has given me the opportunity to take over the responsibilities of the Head of Senior Mathematics and we warmly welcome Mr Liam Coulter as the Head of Mathematics for Years 7 – 9.

We also extend our warmest welcome to three new staff members, Ms Wajiha Tariq, Mr Jarrod Benjamin and Mr Hayden Young. Additionally, we are thrilled to have onboarded three Monash Masters’ program interns as Learning support officers who are specialised in Mathematics. We welcome Ms Nives Milanovic, Ms Natalie Ilievski and Dr Szeyu Chen. It is with their help that we have been able to offer specialised mathematics support both in and out of class for all year levels.

To help fill the gaps that remote learning has created amongst some students, we have begun offering lunchtime and after-school tutoring sessions from Years 7 – 12. Some of these sessions are based on teacher referrals while others are drop-ins as needed. We have also made big changes to our Junior Enhancement program where we are now giving our junior students a chance to work on topics that they would normally learn in Year 9. Thereby getting them ready for the higher levels at a much earlier time.

With all these exciting changes, extra tutoring support and Maths support in classes, I am sure we will continue on our path to excel and achieve even greater heights!
