Victoria Interschool Show jumping Championships

Well done to River and Lotus Rothery who competed in the 2023 Equestrian Victoria Interschool State Championships over the school holidays. River finished 15th in her height (80cm) and age group and Lotus finished 16th in her height (60cm) and age. A great result for both the girls.

New Zealand Water Ski Racing Association Trans-Tasman Challenge 

Congratulation to Thea Anderson who competed in the New Zealand Water Ski Racing Association Trans-Tasman Challenge on Lake Taupo over the school holidays. Thea came 2nd in her age group. What a fantastic result. 

 

State Lawn Bowls Championships

This Thursday 4th May, the Sacred Heart lawn bowls team will travel to Sunbury to play in the State Lawn Bowls Championships. Children will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat, and bring along fruit, snacks, lunch and drink bottle. Children will travel by bus to this event. The bus will leave Sacred Heart (near the gym) at 7:00am and return at approximately 5:15pm. Parents/grandparents are welcome to travel on the bus if they would like to support this event. Good luck to the following bowlers – Jesse McCarthy, Louis Hickey, Astin McCrimmon, Bodhi Baker, Silas Walsh, Stathi Papafotis, Charli Doyle, Fletcher Tomkins, Max Mitchell, Livi Harris, Fred Melville, Leon Whitehouse and Brady Hickey.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons have started for all our children in Years 1 – Years 4 at Heather’s Swim School. Children are reminded that they need to bring (or wear) their bathers, a towel, goggles etc. Children may wear their sports uniform on their allocated swimming day. A big thank you to the parents who volunteered to assist with the walking of children to the pool. A roster will be sent home with your child this week. 

 

The swimming times for each class are as follows:

Tuesday -  Year 3 MR (11:30am – 12:00pm), Year 3KM (12:00pm – 12:30pm), Year 4DC (12:30pm – 1:00pm), Year 4RS (1:00pm – 1:30pm), Year 4SF (1:30pm – 2:00pm),

 Year 3AH (2:00pm – 2:30pm)                         

 

Wednesday Year 1LC (12:00pm – 12:30pm), Year 2RB (12:30pm – 1:00pm), Year 1MD (1:00pm – 1:30pm), Year 2FM (1:30pm – 2:00pm), Year 1MC(2:00pm–2:30pm)                         

 

Sacred Heart Athletics Years F-2

Well done to all our Foundation – Year 2 students who participated in the Sacred Heart Junior Athletics Carnival. A big thank you to our Year 6 students who led the events on the day. Thank you also to the parents and grandparents who supported the event. Finally a very big thank you to Lenny Perkins for his time, in supplying us with a running track on our school oval.

Name: Astin McCrimmon (Yr. 6LG)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is football because I love tackling and kicking goals. 

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment is hittings lots of 4’s in cricket and making 50 runs of 16 balls.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in sport are my good calves that help me to run fast and my strong muscles that help me to tackle in football. 

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is really fun and it keeps me entertained. 

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Shai Bolton. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite sports person because he is awesome at football and plays for Richmond.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Richmond and the Matilda’s.

 

Name: Millie Cooper (Yr. 6KT )

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Touch football and netball because they are really fun to play.

2. What is your best sporting moment? Trying out for Alvie and getting into their netball team. Also scoring a Try in Touch Football.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? Good sportmanship and my leadership skills.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because you can make new friends and have fun.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Ryan Papenhuyzen Why are they your favourite? Because he plays for Melbourne Storm.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Melbourne Storm.

 

Name: Raymond Wang (Yr 5JT)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Basketball because I like how you can do tricks with the ball.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment is when I shot a three pointer in a basketball game.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in sport that make me a good athlete, is tham I am decent at running and I am quick with my hands.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I like playing sport because it is fun and it keeps me fit.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Michael Jordan Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite player because he is an excellent basketball player and good to watch.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Chicago Bulls
