Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to one and all. Term 2 and the cooler weather have both arrived. I trust families were able to enjoy some time over Easter or an ANZAC Day weekend etc away from the routine of school and work and enjoy each other’s company. These opportunities with your kids are precious.

Staff and students have begun Term 2 in a very positive way with a happy buzz in all classrooms as the children reacquaint themselves with their friends and staff.

Our Foundation students are with us five days a week from now on, as they take another step in their school journey, with growing confidence and independence. While many of our senior students have clearly been “eating their parents out of house and home” - as my Mum would say- to keep up with the growth spurts that have clearly kicked in. I said to one young man last week “Wow! You've grown.” and I waited….. He just smiled. I had to prompt him, “What about me?” I asked “have I grown?” “Not upwards” he said. These are great kids!

During Term 2 our Grade 1-4 children will be be completing their swimming lessons, Grade fours are going on camp, there are lots of sporting opportunities planned for our senior students, we will be celebrating both Catholic Education Week and the Feast of the Sacred Heart as well as the many other learning opportunities that our teachers have planned. Please keep an eye on the newsletter to keep up with it all!

BUILDING NEWS Our building project continues with bricks appearing and plasterers arriving this week. We are looking forward to completion of this project in July. It will deliver an 18th classroom in bricks and mortar, a meeting room and office and new toilets for staff and for students. A big thank you to Mrs McGuane’s Grade 3, Mr Richardson’s Grade 5 and Ms Borgia’s Grade 2 particularly who have worked away diligently despite the inconveniences that this project has meant.

Our School Council is committed to providing the very best of facilities for our students as we work to bring our Masterplan to reality.

SUNSMART NEWS Given that we are now well into Autumn and in accordance with our school policy children no longer need to wear a hat when outside at school. Children should take them home for a wash before they are needed again towards the end of August.

ICY POLES There will be no more icy poles sold at school until the start of Term 4.
