 Zero Waste Day

The inaugural International Zero Waste Day happened on March 30 - it is an incredible milestone towards the UN Development Goals. This was agreed upon by 105 other UN countries with the aim of highlighting the importance of zero waste in fighting the climate crisis.

  • If food loss and waste were a country, it would be the third biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions.

Earth Day is April 22nd

The theme for 2023 is 'Invest In Our Planet'! Here are some actions you can take:

Boroondara: 2023 City Nature Challenge

  • You can join in by taking photos of any wild plants and animals you see anywhere across Boroondara between 28 April and 1 May 2023 and uploading them to the iNaturalist app.
  • You can also book in to attend our fun Boroondara City Nature Challenge guided Swalks. These walks are running over the weekend of the challenge.

Did you know that there are goats in Boroondara? 

Our new 4-legged weed-management machines are hard at work in Koonung Creek Reserve, Balwyn North.The 11 South African Boer goats target woody weeds and exotic grasses over native grasses, providing a sustainable alternative to brush cutting and herbicides. Learn more about the weed management goats
