Writing - Year 5 and 6

In the week ahead, we have a Big Write planned for our Year 5 and Year 6 students. This is an opportunity for students to show off their writing skills, particularly those that they have been focussed on in class recently.  To support students to formulate and plan their ideas, we encourage families to make time for Home Talk.  Below is the writing stimulus we will be using and Home Talk involves taking some time to chat with your Year 5 or 6 student to help them come up with some ideas. This can all be done orally and is an easy way to support your child's learning.

The theme for this Big Write is 'Journey'. This stimulus could lead to a narrative about going to space, a recount about a dream holiday, an information report about transportation - the possibilities are endless! The stimulus is designed to spark some thoughts or ideas and students can take their writing in any direction they like.  One of the goals of a Big Write is to give students some freedom to express themselves and to promote a love of writing. We look forward to seeing what they come up with.
