Year 3/4 Report
The Year 3 / 4 students have made a great start to Term 2, and it has been fantastic to see everybody settling back into the school year after the Easter holidays.
This term in 3 / 4 students will be studying the central idea ‘Small decisions have big impacts on the environment’. It has been positive to see students sparking interest in this topic as they tune into what sustainability is and why it's important for the environment and their future. In the coming weeks students will find out more about consumption and how it impacts their environment, before they begin their projects about actions they can take to promote sustainability in their community.
In Reading students have been investigating figurative language such as personification, and the effect this language device has on an audience. During Writing students have practised using personification in their own work, while also upgrading their verbs to make their writing more interesting and relatable.
In Numeracy students have been learning about ‘Measurement’. They have been learning to compare standard and non-standard units of measurement and have enjoyed the hands-on learning opportunities that this subject area presents. Students have also begun investigating numbers less than one-whole, with an introduction to the decimal system occurring in the first week of term.
The 3-4 team is excited to see how the learning for the rest of the term unfolds and to be further inspired by our students.
