Education Week 2023 -Week 4
This year, Education Week runs from Sunday 14 to Saturday 20 May. The theme Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate celebrates the many ways students learn, through physical activity, hands on learning and student voice.
Education Week is an opportunity for our school to celebrate and share with you how we encourage our students to be active learners. Aberfeldie Primary School will be celebrating Education Week by participating in activities that involve movement, making and motivation. Check out Seasaw next week to see the highlights!
New Lunch Order System
We recently introduced a new lunch ordering system through 'Classroom Cuisine' that we are trialing throughout the rest of term 2. This is currently only operating on Thursdays and we were amazed at how popular it has been already. Hopefully there were plenty of happy, full bellies! Please note that items ordered are for lunch only and are delivered just prior to the students lunch break. Parents can login and place orders here https://classroomcuisine.com.au/login .

Lunch Time Clubs
This term, we are implementing lunch time clubs to increase student engagement, social skills and inclusion for all students during breaks. The clubs on offer include Outdoor Games, including skipping, hula hoop activities and ball play, as well as Library Club, which involves quieter activities such as reading, drawing and colouring.
School Fundraising
The school fundraising committee has been very busy this year, coordinating food theme days, the school canteen, Easter raffle and more. It is only a few more sleeps until the popular 'Ladies Lunch!' On the day, there will be a raffle with prizes such as tickets to the Peninsular Hot Springs, beauty products, a Remington appliance pack, vouchers and more. Raffle tickets can be purchased on QKR now ($10) and also on the day. For those attending, don’t forget to email cora@scribepub.com.au any dietary requirements if you haven’t already.
The school would like to thank the committee for their organisation of this day, including Olivia, Cora, Dalila, Ruby, Sandra, Erin and Danielle. We would also like to send a big thank you to 'A Connected Life' for generously sponsoring and making this event possible.
A Connected Life, offers counselling for Adults and Couples and can accessed here.
The generous funds that are raised by these events will go towards a range of school improvement projects. To have your say on how these funds are utilized, please complete this feedback form for the school council.
National Reconciliation Week -Week 6
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time to reflect and continue building momentum towards reconciliation in our school and wider community. Each year Reconciliation Australia selects a different theme to celebrate NRW. The theme for NRW 2023 is “Be a Voice for Generations”. During NRW, teachers at Aberfeldie will support students to explore the meaning and purpose of this theme. There will be a range of practical opportunities for learning in classrooms, around the school, and with the community during NRW and beyond. More information on how we will be acknowledging NRW will be released in the coming weeks.
School Gates
We thank everyone for using our new school gate on Batman Street during school hours. All external gates are now closed and locked at 9:10-9:15am and reopened at 3:15-3:20pm. We ask families and carers to use the Batman St entrance between these hours. We understand that this is a change, and thank all parents and carers in supporting us to keep students safe during school hours.
