Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to week 9 as we wind down for the end of term 1. Hasn’t it flown by so fast. I cannot believe it will be Easter next week however I am looking forward to celebrating with family and friends. Our last day of school for Term 1 is Thursday 6th April and we finish at 2.10 pm.

Thank-you: I’d like to thank the great team of volunteers who helped with the Sausage Sizzle on Wednesday. They battled through the weather and the staff shortages we had on the day to ensure all the students who ordered a sausage were able to get one. It is a great fundraising event we have each term, as we know the children love a treat every now and then. It also gives us the opportunity to raise some much needed funds for the school. Without the parents and carers volunteering this would not be possible. Thank-you!

Policies: Attached to this newsletter are the following policies, which are all available on the school website https://meltonwestps.vic.edu.au/our-school/.

  • Complaints Policy: Informs our community about the process of raising a complaint or concern about something that is occurring at the school. It also ensures that all complaints are managed in a timely, effective, fair and respectful manner.
  • Attendance Policy: Ensures the community has a shared understanding of the importance of attending school and the practices and procedures we use to support, monitor and maintain student attendance and the follow up we do to ensure all students attend school EVERY day they are well.
  • Dogs at School Policy: Informs our community about the rules and procedures we have in place in relation to having dogs on the school ground.
  • Personal Property Policy: Reminds our community that it is best not to bring special or valuable items to school, including Pokemon cards that children do not want to swap or lose.

Dream Big Festival: A small group of students are performing at the Dream Big Festival at the Mount Carberry Reserve in Melton South on Sunday the 2nd of April from 1.00pm. I watched them in a dress rehearsal on Thursday and they looked fabulous. They are actually performing a song they wrote together called “We’re all Courageous”. If you are free, it sounds like it is going to be a fabulous family friendly event for the whole family to enjoy.
