Year 7 Orchestra Experience
Kate Cebarano’s recent collaboration with Melbourne Symphony is a fantastic reminder of the versatility, beauty and power of the orchestra. It's encouraging therefore that our students can take this opportunity to wrestle with a classical orchestral instrument, even for just one lesson, to make music alongside their peers. As part of exploring music for orchestra, Year 7 students have had the opportunity to learn some basic techniques on violins, violas, cellos and double basses. They have learned to read music notation and play alongside their peers in a pop-up orchestra with the Kildare wind and string ensembles.
Many thanks to the students and staff who supported some eighty Year 7 students with an authentic experience of making music in an orchestra setting last Monday, 16th May.
