National Road Safety Week

National Road Safety Week (NRSW) is an initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group, partnering road safety organisations and government to highlight the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it. Every year, more than 1200 people are killed and 44,000 seriously injured on Australian roads. National Road Safety Week is a time for us to remember those people who have experienced trauma on our roads. We urge communities to come together and make their pledge to ensure the roads are safe for everyone. To drive so others survive.

Our Year 12 students attended the "Road Safety Starts with Me" Youth Summit. The full-day Summit aimed to lead year 10 to 12 students on a learning journey, developing road safety awareness and skills across a range of scenarios.

The agenda included:

  • road safety speakers directly impacted by road trauma;
  • interactive road safety activities and;
  • critical learning outcomes dedicated to improved road safety behaviours.

For all the students who attended, I encourage you to reflect and apply the lessons from the day. For the students who did not attend, I would ask that you reflect on your driving and make any adjusts to increase safety for yourself, passengers and others sharing the road.

SAER (Students at Educational Risk) Review

We are in the process of completing our Term 2 SAER Review. Communication for students identified at risk (not maintaining course progress timelines) will be made through Compass in the next fortnight.
