Congratulations for sporting achievements
State swimming championships
Four incredible swimmers represented Monty South at the State Swimming Championships held at MSAC on 28th April. Simply qualifying for state is a huge achievement, but swimming two personal bests on the day is amazing! Although the girls missed out on a medal, you wouldn't know it with how positive, happy, enthusiastic and supportive of each other they were. They really are the dream team!
Results: Ava C came 6th in the Girls 12-13 50m Butterfly. Ava, Jess, Charli and Evie came 7th in the Girls 12-13 Medley Relay (Swam a PB). The same girls swam again in the 12-13 Girls 50m Freestyle Relay and came 5th (Swam a PB).
Congratulations, Ava, Jess, Charli and Evie, you've done yourself and the whole school community proud!
District Cross Country
Congratulations to our District Cross Country team that competed at Bundoora Park earlier this week. Our superstar runners battled tremendously through the rain, mud and challenging terrain in less than ideal conditions. Regardless of the conditions, all the runners displayed fantastic resilience and determination to do their personal best.
We were fortunate enough to be awarded the Montmorency District Cross Country Champions today, much to the team's delight. Those who placed within the top 10 of their race will progress to Division Cross Country on Thursday, 1st June, at Bundoora Park. Training sessions for those students heading to Division will be announced asap.
Country and Culture Day, 2023
Last Thursday we had an incredible Country and Culture Day! There were so many experiences on offer to our students, including dance, story telling, learning about bush tucker and artefacts, boomerang games, canoe building, creating meaningful acknowledgement of country, music, face painting and so much more.
We would like to sincerely thank the educators and guests who donated their valuable time, talent and knowledge to make our Country and Culture day such an immensely enjoyable and educative experience! We know how much our students, families and staff value the gift of learning from and about our First Nations Peoples and we are already counting down until our next Country and Culture Day.
A special thank you also to our Indigenous Perspectives Coordinator, Tara, for all of her hard work in making this event happen, we are so grateful!
Easter bonnet parade
On the last day of Term 1 our Prep to Year 2 students, as well as our Panorama Kinder friends, participated in the Easter Bonnet Parade! We are so proud of all the students for creating and participating in the parade.
