Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,
Thank you for your support, during what has been a busy, but productive Term 1. We have managed to pack quite a lot into the term, including camps for Year 6 and Year 3, Year 3-6 Athletics and Swimming, NAPLAN, Family Movie Night and Meet the Teacher conferences.
I hope all the families celebrating Easter have an enjoyable time with family and friends. I also hope that the families observing Ramadan have a wonderful Eid al-Fitr celebration in a couple of weeks time.
Term 2 will begin for all students on Monday 24th April. We will be holding a special ANZAC Day assembly from 11.00-11.30am on the tiger turf in front of the flag poles.
Please note that on Tuesday 25th April that school will be closed for the ANZAC Day Public Holiday.
On Tuesday 2nd May, HPS will be holding the Whole School Cross Country event at Heidelberg Park. Further information will be shared during the first week back.
School Age Care Day Program - Curriculum Day (Thursday 4th May)
As you will be aware, on Thursday 4th May (Week 2) HPS will be closed to students for a planned curriculum day. As we had throughout 2022, the School Age Care (SAC) program will be running a Day Program for students. Registration information will be shared on Monday 24th April and will close on Monday 1st May.
School Council Information in the Newsletter
Throughout 2023, we will aim to continue to build community understanding of the purpose of School Council, but also ways that HPS families can actively engage with School Council. As part of this process, we have added a designated School Council page to the newsletter. Please take a moment to look through this page, which includes information regarding the recent school council elections and development of sub-committees.
Year 3 Camp
During this week the Year 3 students have had a wonderful couple of days at the Mt Evelyn Discovery Camp (YMCA). Thank you to the school staff for their commitment to ensure our students had a wonderful experience: Heather Gordon, Rochelle Pennefather, Charlie Hughes, Rebecca Paterson, Tahnee Pape and Libby Langlands.
Many thanks also to parent volunteers Catharine Rainsford and Sharan Rai for their time and invaluable support over the three days.
