Welcome to Term 3

It was so lovely welcoming the Preps back to school last week. The children were all super excited to see their friends and teachers and we are all ready for a wonderful term ahead.

Term 3 is full of fun and engaging events. For our current Unit of Inquiry we had fun dressing up for Old Fashioned Dress Up Day on Tuesday. The Preps will recognise 100 days of being at school with our '100 Days at School' special celebrations. We also have the School Disco, back for the first time in 3 years, Father’s Day Morning and finally, Cubby Day. We are looking forward to a fantastic, fun-filled Term 3!

Old Fashioned Dress-Up Day

On Tuesday, as part of our current Unit of Inquiry, ‘Where we are in place and time’, the Preps had an old fashioned dress up day. The children experienced what it was like to go to school in the olden days by wearing old fashioned clothes such as long skirts, vests, shawls, braces and hats, and by playing old fashioned games throughout the day.

Inside they enjoyed games and activities such as using chalk boards and playing with marbles, knuckles/jacks, snakes and ladders, and board games.

Outside, they enjoyed skipping ropes, yo-yos, quoits and elastics. It was fun learning the old rhymes school children used to sing while playing elastics. Rolling hoops down the mounds is always a favourite!

The Preps have had fun learning about the days of the week and different activities which fall on certain days. They recognise that they get to enjoy sport and art on Tuesdays and we also discussed other activities that take place throughout the week and on the weekend.

We have also been thinking about sequencing and ordering our school day. The Preps enjoyed cutting out images of daily activities and putting them in order, making sure their day started with waking up and eating breakfast before heading off to school.
