Significant events occuring in our Parish and our beautiful little school over the next couple of weeks.

The first is this weekend!

Congratulations and blessings to our candidates  who will be celebrating their First Eucharist 6:00pm on Saturday evening.   This major milestone in their faith journey marks the first time they are to receive the Body and Blood of Christ.

Please, when you are ready, say the following prayer for them.

May you open your heart to the Holy Spirit to be your helper and guide.

And through the work of the Holy Spirit

may your life be a witness of

Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness,

Goodness, Generosity, Gentleness,

Faithfulness, Modesty, Self-control and Chastity.

The second is our Annual Family Celebration Mass for Marriage and Family Week which will be held at the St Mary of the Angels Parish Church on Sunday 26th June at 9:00am.  All families are encouraged to join in the Mass and bring a plate of something to share for morning tea to follow the Mass.

I look forward to seeing you there!

This week, St Mary of the Angels was blessed with a visit from our retiring Deputy Director, Mr Gary Burdett.  Gary was the School Performance Leader for SMOTA before moving into the Deputy Director's role and is fondly remembered by staff past and present here at SMOTA.

We wish Gary all the best on his retirement at the end of this term and congratulate him on an amazing life of service within Catholic Education, he will be sorely missed.

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

Congratulations

Week 7 Winner: Noah B and Week 8 Winner: Scarlett N

For demonstrating care for our school, our world and our future through their daily actions.

As our wonderful educators wrap up their assessment tasks for Term 2, it was been absolutely heartwarming to see the positive growth in students reading and writing skills.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our SMOTA staff and the students on the dedication to their learning over the Term.   The community here is incredible, on Wednesday, Ms Katie Hanes (SMOTA's current School Perfomance Leader) visited the school and marvelled at how engaged our students were in the classrooms, across all year levels. A testament to teacher practice and the calm safe environment we have in our classrooms.  You cannot have engaged learning students if they do not feel safe, valued, respected and cared for.  I am proud to be in the midst of this school community.

Reminder Parent Teacher Conferences:

Parent Teacher Conferences are next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This time is a brilliant opportunity for parent/carers to engage with their child's teacher, never have I worked in a school where such access has been granted to parents to meet during work hours, I hope that parent/carers are able to find a time that suits their family.  We look forward to seeing as many faces as possible.

NAIDOC Week

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  NAIDOC week again falls in the NSW School holidays, with the theme this year being: “Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up”.

Students will be provided with the opportunity to involve themsleves in activities celebrating First Nations culture and achievements in class over the next couple of weeks.

School Reports

School reports are due to be released Friday afternoon.  Please note there will be no printed copies sent home this time, the reports can be accessed through the Compass Portal.  A reminder to book a parent teacher interview for either Tuesday 21st or Wednesday 22nd June if you haven't already booked.
