Year 9 Camp

Campaspe Downs

After a couple of interrupted remote learning years, it was great to finally get our Year 9 cohort out on a school camp! This was also the first school camp experience for several staff, and we took a small but excited and enthusiastic group away to Campaspe Downs camp, situated in the beautiful Macedon Ranges.

The camp was really well organised, with heaps of interesting and challenging activities, led by some friendly and patient instructors! Although many activities were popular, staff and students were most enthusiastic about the giant swing, canoeing, laser tag and the terrifying leap of faith! As well as some interactive night time activities including ambush and a competitive activities and games night, which was hotly contested by staff and students!

For staff, it was really pleasing to see how enthusiastic the students were when completing all the activities and it was especially great to see their teamwork and communication skills developing over the days. It was also really positive to see such a well-behaved group of students, who should be really proud of themselves for the way they represented themselves and Epping Secondary College.

Overall, the camp proved to be a really satisfying experience for both staff and students and we can’t wait to run it back in future years!

Camp was really fun. We  were served a very good amount of food. We had breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper.

We also did lots of thrilling activities like the giant swing, leap of faith, canoeing, lazer tag and more! It was definitely a great experience, especially since it was free.

First day of camp, we settled into our cabins and met our cabin mates.  We did a lot of amazing activities such as archery and team challenge.

In the evening we played Ambush, a group hide and seek game outside until late.  We did a lot of team activities.

It was a really cold night but we were very warm because we were rugged up and the heating in our rooms were super!

Year 9 camp was a great experience, an opportunity to make new friends and strengthen already made bonds. Exploring and challenging ourselves and all around having a blast. We had a game night vs the teachers, they DID NOT win (they did but no one needs to know that). Some of the games included an eating challenge, paper plane throw and music mashup to see who could recognize the most.

The activities included giant swing, team challenges, archery, low ropes, laser tag and initiative tasks. Overall camp was amazing. Big thanks to everyone involved and special thanks to Mr Bettiol for the awesome banana bread.
