Parent Helper Online Session 2022

We are so excited to finally offer our parent helpers program at SKiPPS once again. The general purpose of the School Parent Helper Program is to enrich and enhance student curriculum and to strengthen school-community relations. If you are interested in becoming a parent helper, you will need to watch our online parent helper session. This can be viewed on our website under school documents. I have also attached a link here to the video. All parent helpers are required to watch this 8-minute video and are legally required to obtain a Working with Children’s Check (instructions on how to do this will be presented in the video). If you have any questions about the parent helper program, please see your child’s teacher or speak to Matt or Michelle.

ITALIAN DAY FESTIVITIES

The whole school got together to dress in Italian colours on this great occasion that everyone will remember! We took a great school photo on the basketball courts that made the Italian flag!

We had Claudia from Spectacular Spettacolo and she taught everybody about the Italian culture. The most enthusiastic I’ve ever seen the 1/2s, they loved the play! Great listeners!

The activities at Pranzo were colouring in for the Foundation and Years 1/2, and tombolo for the Years 3/4 and 5/6. They were all a pleasure to teach. Tombola is bingo, we used numbers and family names.

The Italian anthem was played during assembly, Intervallo and Pranzo. The gelato tasted delicious and was a perfect finish to the day!

Thank you to everyone!

Collecting a student from school that isn't your child?

A reminder to please follow the correct procedures when you are collecting a student from school that is not your own. The parent/carer of the student must notify the school either by phone or email to advise that consent is given for their child to be collected  by another parent and advise who the other parent is. Teachers have been advised at 3.30pm that other parents are picking up students and without any formal notification this becomes very challenging for teachers, it is also very distressing for students if they don't know in advance that the pick arrangements have changed.

Tax-Deductible contributions to SKiPPS

For the first time in 2022, SKiPPS is operating two Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) funds which allow parents and community members to make tax-deductible donations.

As we approach the end of the tax year, we ask parents to bear us in mind if they are looking to receive the tax benefits that charitable donations can bring.

We have two funds - a School Building Fund (which is then used to maintain and upgrade our school buildings) and also a School Library Fund (which is used to build and maintain our school library). All donations would be gratefully received.

If you wish to donate please contact Nova, our Business Manager at nova.whitehead@education.vic.gov.au. To find out more about the tax benefits of donating to a DGR fund, please speak to your accountant.

2023 Foundation Enrolments & School Tours

With July almost upon us, we are holding regular school tours and starting to see Foundation enrolment forms for 2023 arrive at school.

As always, it is really important and helpful for us to understand likely student numbers as early as possible as this helps us to plan classes, teachers and many other things for next year.

If you have a younger child at home who will be starting school in 2023 then we ask that you collect an enrolment pack from the school office as soon as possible and return this. Alternatively, email us on st.kilda.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au and we would be happy to put one in your child's school bag.

Details of our upcoming school tours can be found at http://www.skipps.vic.edu.au/community/school-tours/
