Principal's Report

We Are So Proud

On Wednesday 15 June, three of our students participated in the School Sport Victoria Southern Metro Primary Region 2022 Cross Country at Hasting's Foreshore.

Isabella D, Charlie C & Eddie A were absolutely incredible and have represented BNPS in an inspiring manner in truly cold and windy weather conditions.

We are proud to announce that Isabella ran 4th, Charlie ran 23rd and Eddie ran 1st.

Isabella and Eddie (MultiClass) now progress to the SSV State Cross Country Carnival, which is an amazing feat. Congratulations to all 3 !

Girls Football Team

The Beaumaris North Primary School Girls Football Team were successful in the District football final.

On Wednesday 8 June, 41 girls from Years 5 and 6 ventured out into the cold to play in a round robin against schools in our district.

The girls were undefeated and showed exemplary sportsmanship the whole day.

Congratulations girls and thank you to the coach Mr Dan Farmer and the key motivator, Mr Nick Arnold.

Please see the Physical Education page for a more in depth report  & photos from Mr Dan Farmer.

Casual Relief Teachers

Sincere thanks and appreciation to our amazing team of Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs).

We would like to extend a big shout out to our wonderful bank of Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs) who we have had to call upon many times this term due to staff absences.

The prevalence of Influenza and ongoing COVID infections have, at times, seriously depleted our staffing and we have been truly grateful to be able to employ teachers who have a thorough knowledge of both our students and our school.

Unlike many schools, we do not use an external agency but prefer to maintain our own ‘crew’ of CRTs to replace staff when they are away. This ensures a wonderful degree of continuity and consistency as our children are taught by familiar teachers who are well versed in the school’s philosophy and routines.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews were held online using Teams on Tuesday 14 June.  The positive feedback from many families has reinforced our decision to move to the new Teams platform where parents remain in the waiting room until the teacher invites them in.

Sincere thanks to Georgia Keyes-Tilly who  managed our transition to this new approach.

Grandparents Day for our Prep students

Nothing puts a smile on your face more than spending time with your grandchildren.  On Wednesday our Prep students performed for their very proud grandparents and special friends.  At the conclusion of this special event the children enjoyed morning tea with their grandparents.

Please see the Prep page for lots of photos and videos of this wonderful morning.

VHAP Masterclasses

Throughout Terms 1 & 2, we have had students from both Years 5 & 6 participating in VHAP, the Victorian High-Ability Program. The program is designed for students who have demonstrated ability in Mathematics/English through their NAPLAN results and performance in these subjects at school.

The Victorian High-Ability Program is a 10-week extension course in which children work with like-minded peers at neighbouring Victorian government schools through weekly virtual lessons.

At the conclusion of their course, students from that semester are invited to participate in a ‘Masterclass’ where they have the opportunity to meet and work, in person, with students from other local primary schools.

This term, the Maths VHAP students from Terms 1 & 2 are participating in their Masterclass at Hampton Primary School today. These photos are of the students participating there.

The English VHAP students from Terms 1 & 2 will be participating in their Masterclass at Black Rock Primary School on Tuesday 21 June.

We hope this is a fantastic experience for all students involved.

Prep Science

It is always exciting to see our students put on their lab coats for their science lesson.

Last week it was our Preps who dressed in the white lab coats in preparation for making 'Edible Slime' as part of the Unit of Inquiry - 'Senses'.

The photo featured on our front page of this newsletter says it all.  Twenty one students arrived at my office door with their slime for me to see!

Excited Year 2 Travelers

It is not only the major city passport offices that are having issues with long lines of people queuing to meet travel arrangements.  Last Thursday, 78 Year 2 students arrived at the front office trying to pass through passport control so they could depart on their holidays.

Well done Year 2, I envy the fact that you can pack everything in one small case - I need lessons.

Please see the Year 2 page for a video of each class migrating on their adventure and lots photos.

New Farmers Market

The Rotary Club of Sandringham will be holding their Farmers Market on our school grounds.  The first market is this Sunday 19 June from 9am-1pm. The market will be held on the third Sunday of every month.

There will be 40 stalls at this market.  The market is focussed on Victorian grown and made food.

Visit the website for an updated  list of stall holders

Student Reports will be going out on Compass next Wednesday 22 June. I would like to thank the students and their teachers for all of their hard work this semester and the pleasing results.

End of Term 2

Term 2 will finish on Friday 24 June at  2.30 pm.

Please note the early finish.  OSHC will be operating if you require care for your child. Please ensure you book in, if  you require assistance.

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful break from the demands of school and hopefully the sun begins to shine through.

Term 3 commences on Monday 11 July, 2022
